Twinbrook Homeowners,
As we kick off the Summer Season with Memorial Day Weekend, a few updates from the Board and a community event around the corner:
First, a new community mailbox for those residents with homes on the sidewalk side of Hanson Lane was ordered, replacing the old one that was causing water damage to some resident’s mail when it rained. This was a high-priority action, and we are working with the Lorton Post Office to arrange a date to get the main lock in place.
Secondly, we are actively working on options for our neighborhood sign. Proposals to demolish the old sign and to construct and install a new one are being submitted and reviewed by the Board; however, there remains questions with some of these proposals, and we were made aware that the proposed location at the first entrance at Accotink Road and Hanson Lane would be in violation of the Fairfax County zoning code for freestanding signs at street corners. Much work was done (and continues to be done) by your fellow neighbors – we are thankful for their ideas and commitment in improving the aesthetics of our community. We will continue exploring our options for our neighborhood sign with safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness in mind.
Lastly, a reminder that we have a Community Yard (or Neighborhood Garage) Sale next Saturday, June 1st from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This is our first one in a very long time. Please support your neighbors and be extra careful of traffic and pedestrians as you come into and out of our neighborhood that morning.
Have a safe Memorial Day weekend!
